Amy's Story

Welcome! I'm Amy, a 34 year-old mother, wife, daughter and sister. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on July 17, 2015. From that day forward, my path has been forever changed.

Two months prior to being diagnosed, I felt a strange lump in my right breast which led me to have a mammogram and ultrasound and resulted in an immediate MRI and biopsy. Within days, which felt like months, my biopsy came back as ER positive/PR positive, HER negative, Grade II. A PET scan later confirmed that the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes but there were no other metastasizes.

After tons of research and multiple opinions, I decided to pursue my treatment at Mercy Hospital here in Baltimore. My amazing team of doctors has created an extensive treatment plan which includes 6 rounds (5 months) of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy with lymph node dissection, 30 rounds of radiation, reconstructive surgery and a complete hysterectomy. It's going to be a long road but I have been blessed with an amazing support system that has allowed me to focus on fighting this disease.

The love and support I have received on this journey has inspired me to create The Amystrong Foundation. Our goal is to provide friendship, support and awareness to all of my fellow fighters and their families, not only during their battle but long after we are christened 'survivors'.
I am positive, hopeful and inspired.

I will win this fight.

I am strong.

I am‪ #‎amystrong.

This site is dedicated to the fight I'm winning over breast cancer. I'll be sharing my thoughts, feelings and insights as I go through this journey. But, it's not just about me. I hope to use my experiences with my battle as a way to promote prevention and awareness of this disease. I also hope to inspire other survivors, those currently battling breast cancer and all of their families as they endure the same fight. After all, I'm not alone--1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Together, we can ensure better odds for future generations of women.
